Nature reserve park Steinhuder Meer
With its dimensions of 32km² and a water depth of 0,5-3,0m the Steinhuder Meer is the biggest lakes in Northwest Germany.
Water, wind and waves but also the picturesque landscape inmidst a nature protection area, make the Steinhuder Meer an attractive place to vistit.

The Steinhuder Meer is well known as a sailing paradise by water-sports enthusiasts. National and internatinal regattas are staged here every year.
But also surfer and other watersports will find ideal conditions on this big flat lake.

Steinhude and the bathing island at the south bank and Mardorf with the white sandy beach of a shifting sand at the north bank, these two recreation villages offer the needed infra structure for a restful and happy holiday.

Bike and hiking trails lead around the Steinhuder Meer and nature and landscape protection areas with marsh areas and moor landscapes. These wetlands are nesting places for several local birds and resting places for migrating birds.
Here nature lovers can watch the charming flora and fauna with its partly rare bird species.

Mitten im Steinhuder Meer liegt die künstlich angelegte Insel Wilhelmsstein. Mit großen Segelbooten, den Auswanderern kann man diese besuchen.

Genehmigung: Touristinformation Steinhude Rund um das Steinhuder Meer führen Fahrrad- und Wanderwege durch Natur- und Landschaftsschutzgebiete mit Feuchtwiesen und Moorlandschaften. Diese Feuchtgebiete sind Nistplätze für eine Vielzahl einheimischer Vögel und Rastplätze für Zugvögel.
Hier können Naturfreunde die reizvolle Flora und Fauna mit den zahlreichen, teilweise sehr seltenen Vogelarten beobachten.
